~~Just a quick post before I pick up my little one from school. I worked on this piece a little more. I'm calling it "Wonder." I have to say, and you probably already know, that the photo isn't true to the original. It's softer in real life. For some reason it looks a bit harsh on screen. The camara didn't pick up the subtle blended shades and I'm just seeing harsh lines. Plus my camara is putting strange lines across the photos. I think I'm going to be leaving this alone for now. I really like the over-all piece and I'm afraid that I could start getting nit-picky and ruin it. For my first attempt at a portrait in acrylic, I'm actually pretty happy with it.
~~Sierra was able to go to school today, but Savannah is now sick. :( I guess we'll all just get through this and maybe we won't be sick during the Holidays. The one and only nice thing about having sick munchkins is that they let you snuggle them! My normally busy 2 year old actually wanted me to hold her most of the day.
~~Hope you're having a great day!

Well done Kasie, it looks really good. There is some good info out there on the web about photographing artwork. is an article on Empty Easel. And there are more, I just can't locate my bookmarks at the moment :D.
This is absolutely beautiful, Kasie! I'm glad you stretched yourself and tried something new.
Sorry your other munchkin is sick.
This is really sweet Kasie! You did a great job.
this is just beautiful! Such a reminder of the simple things in life! Love it!
This turned out great! You got that look of wonder and awe just right. What a great moment to capture in paint. :D
All I can say is, "WOW!" I think you've truly captured the spirit of a young child and their feelings of wonder...it's not an easy emotion to capture. I think she looks soft and so...huggable!
She easily reminds us adults what is important in life....
