The Art of Life
Photobucket I'm so glad you're here! "The Art of Life" is where I share my journey as an artist & Momma. It's a place where I hope to encourage other women that they are artists too. In this small little space I seek to share, document, and be reminded of God's wonderful grace, all around us. ....And I would be so happy to have you journey alongside me! So grab a cup of coffee and linger for a while. I hope you leave feeling refreshed. Photobucket

Things Which Matter

Flutter Butter Kit by Mindy Terasawa found here.

~~I'm still here! Sorry about the absense. I've just been struggling a bit lately. I did have some nice things happen this past weekend. A sweet, dear friend was in town for a visit. We had a wonderful Saturday morning. We had some yummy raspberry cappuccinos (thanks Valerie!) and then wandered around town. It was so nice. I've lived in this town most of my life and yet I hardly ever make the time to go in all the neat shops. I decided that I'm definitely going to do that more often. And it was so nice to visit in person since we usually only get to "talk" online.
~~Like I mentioned, I've been struggling with some things. It's been hard to stay encouraged and positive. I keep trying to remind myself that things will get better-that this time in life will only make me a stronger person, a stronger Mother. Maybe the point of this time is to draw me closer to God-to cause me to pray more. We're all fine and healthy, so don't worry. It's really more of an emotional battle for me. I'm going to have to worry less, pray more, and rely on God for the strength and wisdom that I don't have on my own.
~~On a different note:
I'm subscribed to a Runner's World email list called the quote of the day. This was the quote in my inbox this morning and it really struck a chord with me. I have a tendency to get caught up in the little things-the things that don't really matter. It's easy for me to feel overwhelmed. That's why I love this quote. It's a great reminder. Am I spending my precious time on the things that matter most, or wasting it on things that, in the long run, just aren't that important? My little girl is starting Kindergarten in less than 2 weeks. That seems unreal to me. She can't possibly be that old. I've decided that I'm going to loosen up on myself and really enjoy these last 2 weeks of Summer. If the laundry has to sit while we're running around in the sprinkler, that's fine. We're going to make a trip to the zoo and maybe even the big waterpark.
2 weeks will go by fast and I want to savor each day.
***Oh! And a little brag: Dustin competed in the Lighthouse Triathlon and took 4th in his age group. Pretty good for someone who doesn't like to swim, LOL!

Kasie,

Sounds like you are going through what i have been these past few months. I have really been struggling with being a mum and a wife and life in general. Have faith its something you have to go through, you will come out better on the other side of it. Just keep taking each day as it comes and get through it there is plenty of time for all the other stuff when you get ontop of things.

*hugs* take care.

The things that help me most when I feel like this are: to get away from everything that takes my attention away from the simple or most precious things in my life. I turn off the computer, I put away my art (even if just for a little while) and then I search for my children who are usually busy playing together. If they are content then I may grab an inspirational book, or devotion or my journal and go outside and sit still in my garden and listen. I listen to my thoughts, and the concerns of my heart. If I feel like it I may write about how I feel, or read a little, but more than likely I will just sit there until I finally decide that everything is going to be okay :) I found this quote this morning. I want to share it with you. You've been in my heart since yesterday when I read this post.

Please feel free to Email me anytime if you want to.
God Bless,
~Valaine

"The best things in life are nearest: Breath in your nostrils, light in your eyes, flowers at your feet, duties at your hand, the path of right just before you. Then do not grasp at the stars, but do life's plain, common work as it comes, certain that daily duties and daily bread are the sweetest things in life."

Bravo...the dishes will wait...but that beautiful girl won't. It's a great time to cherish.
Kindergarten, to me, is one of the best years, because kids remind grown ups what's important both in learning and in life...and possibly learning about life...I LOVE the quote...sounds like one for the refrigerator.
BTW thanks for visiting me today...I've not been out visiting as much as I like because I'm getting ready for school...so it was a nice treat to hear your words.
