The Art of Life
Photobucket I'm so glad you're here! "The Art of Life" is where I share my journey as an artist & Momma. It's a place where I hope to encourage other women that they are artists too. In this small little space I seek to share, document, and be reminded of God's wonderful grace, all around us. ....And I would be so happy to have you journey alongside me! So grab a cup of coffee and linger for a while. I hope you leave feeling refreshed. Photobucket

The BEST Big Fat Chocolate Chip Cookies

I found this recipe online a long time ago and modified it a little. These truly are the best chocolate chip cookies ever. (They also make great M&M cookies!) They are big, fat, soft and chewy at the same time. You can't go wrong.

*2 Cups Flour
*1/2 tsp Baking Soda
*1/2 tsp Salt
*3/4 Cup Shortening plus 4 1/2 tsp water
*1 Cup Packed Brown Sugar
*1/2 Cup White Sugar
*1 Tbs Vanilla
*1 egg
*1 egg youlk
* 2 Cups Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips

1. Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Grease cookie sheet.
2. Sift flour, baking soda, and salt together in medium bowl.
3. Cream together shortening & water, brown sugar, and white sugar until well blended. Beat in vanilla, egg, and egg yolk until creamy. Mix in sifted ingredients until just blended. Stir in chocolate chips by hand. (I know 2 cups is a lot, but it makes the cookies so good!)
4. Drop on cookie sheet 1/4 cup at at time. (This recipe makes big, fat cookies. I use a metal 1/4 cup measuring cup to scoop out the dough. Don't flatten the dough balls when you put them on the sheet.)
5. Bake for 15-17 minutes in preheated oven.

Enjoy! This recipe makes about 15 big cookies.

~~Last night Dustin got in the pool with the girls and they loved it. They thought it was hilarious! He told Savannah that he was going to swim with them and she said, "No. No. Daddy big, big, big!"
