The Art of Life
Photobucket I'm so glad you're here! "The Art of Life" is where I share my journey as an artist & Momma. It's a place where I hope to encourage other women that they are artists too. In this small little space I seek to share, document, and be reminded of God's wonderful grace, all around us. ....And I would be so happy to have you journey alongside me! So grab a cup of coffee and linger for a while. I hope you leave feeling refreshed. Photobucket

3 Things I want my Daughters to know

Jordan at MamaBlogga is hosting a group writing project. The theme is 3 things I want my kids to....
I've been thinking a lot about this prompt as I look at my 2 little bright eyed girls. And I wonder, what do I want my daughters to know? If I were writing a letter to them as future young women, what would I share? So here is my letter, written to my 2 girls:
Sierra & Savannah,
3 Things I want you, my sweet girlies, to know...
****Live your lives with passion. Don't be afraid to try new things. Don't let fear hold you back. Find that thing that makes your heart sing. Sierra, at 5 years old I already see a great love of art in you. May you always keep that childlike joy. May you never get to the place where other's opinions grow louder than your heartsong. Savannah, at 2 you are my little songbird. You wake up with a song on your heart and you sing throughout the day. You approach everything with curiosity and wonderment. Please don't lose that wide-eyed wonder.
****I want you girls to know that Motherhood is a fullfilling and valid choice for a woman. I don't know what the future holds for you both. Your Daddy and I support you in whatever paths you choose. But I desperately want you to know that it is OKAY to want to be a Mother. I want you girls to grow and learn and be all that you can be. I want you to follow all of your dreams. But I'm a little afraid for you both. I'm seeing such an attack on the value of Motherhood and I can only wonder what society will be like when you're grown. I became a Mother at a young age and have never regretted it. Motherhood is not the end of growth for a woman. It is truly just the beginning.
****I want you to know that you are never alone. God has promised to never leave you nor forsake you. He sent His Son to die for you so that you would never have to be separated from Him. I pray that you girls will have a deep, personal relationship with our Saviour. Having Him in your heart gives you the strength that you need to make it through the ups and downs of life. And also know that your Daddy and I will always be there for you. No matter what, you can always come to us. We will never stop loving you.
You girls are my gift from heaven. I love you more than you can know.
With love,
Mommy

Thank you for this, Kasie! Your second point really relates to the whole purpose of my site (so I LOVE how you put it; can I quote you sometime?), and of course I love your testimony in point three.

Thanks for participating!

You said, "Motherhood is not the end of growth for a woman. It is truly just the beginning." How very true! I had never thought of it that way and sometimes think that I'm at a dead end road with my personal growth. But to the contrary! As I look back, I am much more a woman than I was two years ago. All three things you want your girls to know are wonderufl! Thanks for sharing!

This post put a tear in my eye. My daughter is twenty, and yet I hope for so many fo the same things for her that you do for your little ones.

You're right.
Support is everything. Support from one's mother is everything and more.

This is a very nice entry! These are good choices of things to pass on, and your wording is excellent.

I love your list Kasie.

Especially number 2 about the value of becoming and being a mummy.

There is no more important job and I feel so lucky to be one.

My kids inspire and motivate me and have made my life so much more fulfilling and interesting.

Your art is absolutely stunning by the way. I love the 'little flower' and the little girl playing in the sand.

This post brought tears to my eyes and a lump in my throat; because as Daisy said, no matter how old they are, you always want the same things for them. Your first line reminds me of a poem I wrote to my girls last year called "Taste Everything!" describing how to embrace life and try things. Your girls are so lucky to have a mom who cares so much. I'm sure they will value being a mom as much as you because you've instilled that love from the beginning; and they will be a reflection of you......
