~~Well, I promised an update so, here it is. (Even though I really didn't want to post this.) I think that it's in a pretty ugly stage at this point. The face is harsh and I'm working on softening it and getting the correct colors. It will help a lot when there is a forehead and hair too. Also, just by putting this up on the computer I am seeing some problems with the eyes and the width of the face so I will have to work on that.
~~I stayed up late into the night, or should I say morning, working on this. At around 2:00 am I was having a pretty heated debate with myself. It went something like this; "I hate this. I'm really messing it up!" then, "No, it's not that bad. Maybe I can save it." and back to "No, it looks horrible!" So, I decided to lay down my pencils and go to bed. I knew that my tired brain was going to get me in trouble if I pushed too much longer. I was hoping that my two little Punkins (Okie word for Pumpkin) would sleep in this morning. Why would I think that? Have they ever slept in? On top of that, when I woke up, my eyes were almost swollen shut because of my allergies. Lovely Oklahoma wind, lol! Oh well.
~~I'm not sure how much work I'm going to be able to get in this weekend. We've got friends from out of town coming in tomorrow. But we'll see. I'm desperately hoping to get this done soon!
~~Have a wonderful weekend!

It's amazing how differently a trained eye sees a picture (and the world) vs. an untrained eye (not to mention how differently a creator views a work vs. an observer). I didn't notice any of the defects you pointed out. I'm just consumed with jealousy of your amazing talent!
(I used to call Hayden punkinhead all the time. It eventually evolved into punky-pooky-pooka-poo. I have a grandpa from OK, but I think that word came to my family from the West Virginia side.)
I have to agree with Jordan! My first thought after seeing this was "WOW!", followed by "I wish I could do that!!"
You both are so nice! I don't know if I'll ever really like any of my pieces, lol. I never can stop seeing those mistakes that other people can't see. But I still love drawing so I guess I'll keep going.
:) Smiles!
Kasie this is coming along fabulously .. just keep going. There is a reason why we call it "the ugly stage".. but to be honest i think it is looking fabulous you have really great skin tone and colour i know when i am tired its best to put it down and get some time away (i have to force myself). Try also standing right back from it .. i find that helps. But i thnk you are doing a absolutely fabulous job.. i love the way you have handled those toes they are curling beautifully :)
Its just gorgeous
