~~Yesterday was her "Pencil Crayon Playground" and the challenge was to loosen up and create art for fun. My style is usually very tightly rendered and detailed. I've tried other ways but I really think it is just part of who I am. So it was a challenge to loosen up, let go and just have fun with the pencils. I kept having to tell my inner critic to "go sit in the corner!" But the more I worked on it, the more fun I had. Sierra, my 5 year old, made her own little artwork right beside me. I was watching her happily gluing pom-poms, pipe cleaners, and wiggly eyeballs to her drawings. I just reveled in her pure creative joy. I didn't think my finished product turned out too bad either and it was great to actually finish a piece in an afternoon.
~~This afternoon I worked some on my Ballerina piece and, you know, I really think that just having fun and being creative yesterday helped me. I definitely was working faster and just trusting my insticts. Wow! I'm going to have to do that more often.
Thanks Kal!

You. Are. Welcome.
I love it. I love that your drawing looks loose and free. I love that it got your creative juices flowing and if the juices are flowing - the art is good. Go.
