"Baby Angel" Copyright 2007 & Beyond Kasie Sallee
This is the latest picture that I have done. I finished it last week. It is 8" x 10" Prismacolors on black Stonehenge paper. It was the first time that I have done anything on black and I enjoyed it so much that I think I will be using black again soon.
There is a sad story behind this picture. I did it as a gift for a couple who have lost 2 babies before they had a chance to be born. They have been through a lot of complications and my heart truly goes out to them. They are expecting now, so if you believe in the power of prayer (as I do) I would ask you to remember them.
When I heard the sad news, I immediately saw a picture of a baby angel in my mind. I normally never do anything like that. I had not done any artwork at all in well over a year, but I knew that this was something that I had to do for them. I haven't given it to them yet, but I hope that it can be a comfort in some way.
I feel like this drawing wasn't just a gift for them, it has also been a gift for me. I had been feeling so much fear about getting started again in my art. I didn't worry about the fear when I was working on this because I knew the drawing had a purpose. So, in a way, it has helped me to get started again and I am grateful for that.

Your work is beautiful and this piece is truly incredible! I would definitely say that all of the work you have shown so far shows emotion and connects with viewers.
Having said that, welcome to blogging! I look forward to seeing more of your work :-)
how could i purchase a copy of this print??? I would like to get it for a gift for a friend for the same reasons you initially created this portrait.
Hi Debra,
I'm so sorry but I'm not able to offer prints of this particular piece. I actually no longer have the piece since I gave it as a gift. I do have plans to do another baby angel piece next year and will hopefully be offering prints by that time.
Thanks so much for asking!
